Fieldstone Equestrian & Show Facility Adds New Footing and More Capital ImprovementsNovember 3, 2009 - Halifax, MA - Fieldstone continues to push the bar in quality of show grounds. In the recent round of capital improvement, new footing was added to many of the show rings, including the indoor arena. A hybrid blend of Euro-Felt, leather, and sand was used in the indoor arena. "This blend gives an amazing ride, it doesnŐt move too much, never gets too loose, never gets too deep, and still has superior grip and cushion, its perfect!" said Scott Clawson, owner and manager of FESF. Outside, Fieldstone is currently re-building the main show rings from the ground up. A new base has been added to the Main Hunter Ring, Equitation Ring and Pony Ring, to raise and properly pitch the rings to allow better drainage and a more level riding surface. On top of this new base, there is a hybrid blend of Euro-Felt and a unique sand mixture that creates a superior riding surface. The Euro-Felt binds the smaller sand particles, adds cushion and lateral stability, and helps retain water in dry conditions, yet lets excess water drain off. The Jumper Ring will also get some attention to improve upon the already excellent footing in that ring. Adding new sand and Euro-Felt to the ring added great stability to the existing footing, making it more durable and weather resistant. "The new Jumper Ring is a big asset for us. It gives us a bad weather alternative to the grass Grand Prix Field that most other show facilities do not have" said Shawn Clawson, show manager of FESF. "The ring was really good last year when we finished it, but it needs to be perfect to safely allow the highest level of competition, and now it will be the best riding surface around." The Fieldstone Winter Series continues November 14th and December 5th. ItŐs the perfect opportunity to get qualified early for the equitation medals, and ride on the new footing. November 15th is NEHC and MHJ "C"" rated and USEF "Local" rated. December 5th will be USEF "B" rated and NEHC and MHJ "C"" rated. |
